‘Almost certain’: Paul Merson predicts result of Manchester City v Liverpool today

Manchester City and Liverpool are by far the two best teams in the Premier League right now.

As things stand, there is very little separating the Citizens and the Reds.

The two sides played out a pulsating 2-2 draw in last weekend’s Premier League encounter in Manchester.

Indeed, the Etihad outfit and their Anfield counterparts are taking their battles across other competitions too.

On Saturday, City and Liverpool will lock horns in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp could even meet in the Champions League final, with both clubs in the final four.

Liverpool have one domestic cup to their name this season and, on Saturday, could take a step closer to their second.

City remain in contention for three trophies, while Liverpool are still in with a chance of an unprecedented quadruple.

On Saturday, the Citizens and the Reds bid to meet either Chelsea or Crystal Palace at Wembley on 14 May.

Paul Merson, writing on , gave his prediction on the big FA Cup semi-final.

He began: “I got last week’s Premier League prediction right!

“Manchester City have played out a 2-2 draw with Liverpool this month.

“And I reckon Liverpool have a slight advantage in this game.

City had a real hard game against Atletico Madrid, to be fair.

“They’ve had to travel this week, and it was a very physical game as well.

“Liverpool rested Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Fabinho in the Champions League and are almost certain to score goals this weekend.”

Merson finished by predicting a 2-1 win for Liverpool.
