Ally McCoist suggests Liverpool could do something unlikely in the Premier League
Liverpool might have been the quietest team in the Premier League in terms of transfers, but things are looking promising for the Reds for the new season.
The Anfield side have looked in good form having claimed big wins against the likes of Arsenal, Manchester Untied and Sevilla in pre-season, with Arne Slot having a fully fit squad heading into Saturday’s opener against Ipswich Town.
Although Liverpool’s move for Martin Zubimendi has collapsed, the Reds look in good nick to make a huge statement in the Premier League next season, though new signings would be welcome before the window closes.
And Ally McCoist has predicted Liverpool to do something unlikely in the new campaign.

Liverpool tipped to challenge for the Premier League title
Speaking on , McCoist made the bold prediction that Liverpool could challenge Arsenal and Manchester City for the Premier League title based on what the pundit has seen from the Reds in pre-season.
With key players like Mohamed Salah having the full summer to prepare for the new season, Liverpool are looking fresh and ready to take on the Premier League, with no major players set to leave between now and the end of the window.
And with the mood around Liverpool as good as it can be with Jurgen Klopp leaving in the summer, there’s a real chance that the Anfield side could do something unlikely in the new season and challenge for the Premier League.
McCoist said on Liverpool’s title chances: “If you had asked me ten days ago, I would have said a two-horse race. I have actually been quite impressed with what I have seen from Liverpool in pre-season. Clearly they are not finished yet, and I would hope they are not finished yet in the transfer window.”

Late signings could make Liverpool challengers
With just over two weeks of the window left to go, Liverpool will need signings if they’re to really compete in the Premier League given how many more games the Reds will be playing in Europe this season.
Yet with form this pre-season good and Liverpool not spending a penny yet in the market, a late move for some top signings is more than likely for Slot, who could make quite the impression in his first year in England.
Indeed, Liverpool have the talent and the resources to go far in the Premier League title race this season, yet a few late signings for the midfield and defence could be what gets the Reds firmly into the mix with Arsenal and City.
