Ally McCoist that he was really disappointed with Steven Davis’s performance during Rangers’s 3-1 defeat that has left them on the brink of Europa League elimination.
The Gers need to score at least three times in Germany after being beaten at Ibrox. There were bright points for the home side, particularly after Florian Kamberi was introduced during the second-half.

However, Leverkusen deserved their victory over the course of the evening. They looked in control during the first-half, and they were clinical after the break.
It was a tough night for a number of Rangers players. And Davis was one of those who seemed to struggle to cope in the middle of the park.

And after the full-time whistle, McCoist conceded that it was a poor display from the Northern Irishman, as well as teammate Glen Kamara.
“I have to be quite honest and brutally honest, I was really disappointed with Steve tonight,” . “He didn’t play as well, and he’s a top, top player, make no mistake about it. Kamara’s struggled since he came back at the start of the year. He looks a different player.
“I don’t think Davis has dipped as much as Kamara has, but Steve didn’t play well tonight. Normal, basic things for him, taking a touch, he wasn’t himself.”
It did appear that Davis did struggle to stamp an authority on the game. And while he will probably not be pleased with his performance, you also have to credit Leverkusen for their display.
What Davis has shown since his return to Rangers however, is that he can bounce back. He did not get off to the best start, but responded superbly at the start of the season.
So it should certainly surprise no-one if Davis proves a point in the near future after a disappointing night.
