Ally McCoist reacts as Allan McGregor wins Rangers award, Ryan Jack also comments

Allan McGregor firmly established himself as a Rangers legend with a stellar 2020-21 campaign that saw him earn the Player of the Season award on Monday evening – prompting reaction from Ally McCoist on Instagram.

McGregor, 39, proved that age is just a number with a whopping 22 clean sheets in 42 league and cup appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side – as Rangers went the entire league campaign without defeat. He conceded just 30 goals.

The goalkeeper beat the likes of Steven Davis, James Tavernier, Ryan Kent, Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos to the award – which was voted for by supporters. Well-deserved, and it is not the last we will see of McGregor, either.

He has penned a one-year extension at Ibrox as Steven Gerrard looks to embark on a Champions League campaign next term. Rangers confirmed the recipient of the award, posting a picture of an emotional-looking McGregor.

Tavernier earned the top scorer award and players’ player, Kemar Roofe got goal of the season, Goldson was picked as manager’s player, Hagi the young player and Davis earned the John Greig achievement award.

An emotional night after a season in which Rangers earned their first Scottish title in 10 years – simultaneously stopping Celtic’s 10 in a row, McCoist reacted with praise for McGregor, noticing the Scottish stopper was emotional.

Ryan Jack, Andy Firth and Greg Stewart also commented.
