Ally McCoist makes Dominic Solanke prediction at Tottenham after seeing his first match vs Leicester

Dominic Solanke’s Tottenham Hotspur debut ended in a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The England international led the line for Tottenham just a week after his £65m move from Bournemouth but failed to get his name on the clean sheet despite putting up a creditable display.

Pedro Porro broke the deadlock with a first-half header, but Jamie Vardy restored parity for the home side with a close-range finish after the interval as Leicester grew into the game to secure a point.

Solanke played the full 90 minutes and put in the hard yards up front for Ange Postecoglou – which impressed some pundits, including Ally McCoist.

Solanke was in the thick of the action for Tottenham, particularly in the first half as Leicester were pegged back on their return to the Premier League.

While McCoist believes the former Bournemouth man could have done a little better in front of goal, he backed him to become a success at his new club.

“I thought he had a couple of headers he probably should have done a little bit better,” McCoist said on (8:11 AM, Aug 20).

“However, my impression was that I thought well. He looks as though he will be a success at Tottenham.”

Solanke should bang in the goals for Tottenham

Postecoglou praised Solanke’s performance on his Spurs debut, pinpointing the striker’s ability to work hard for his team as a positive.

Gary Neville also delivered a positive verdict on Solanke’s debut, although he admitted that the current season would be a test of his credentials to lead the line for a top-six club.

Last season, the 26-year-old scored 19 Premier League goals for a Bournemouth side that finished 12th as he emerged as Andoni Iraola’s main man at the Vitality Stadium.

Only Erling Haaland (27), Cole Palmer (22) and Alexander Isak (21) scored more goals than Solanke as the towering striker put himself among illustrious company with his exploits in front of goal.

Spurs’ free-flowing brand of football is perfect for Solanke and his arrival could offset the goalscoring burden on Heung-min Son, who has been their main man since Harry Kane’s departure.
