Allan shares what Rafael Benitez is ‘always’ telling the Everton midfielders in training
Allan has explained that him and his fellow Everton midfielders are always instructed by manager Rafael Benitez to try play with two touches in training.
Benitez, 61, is an experienced coach that has taken charge as the new Toffees boss for the upcoming season.
His first competitive game in charge of the Merseyside club is 14 August against Southampton. They kickstart the Premier League with that home fixture at Goodison Park, so should be looking to throw down an early marker to the rest of the division.
Everton’s 29-year-old midfielder Allan has given an insight into what the new manager has been like on the training pitches.
If his comments are anything to go by, Benitez could become popular with supporters. They are a bunch crying out for quick, attacking and intense football.
“He (Benitez) is very active during training, always instructing the players to move and pass the ball better,” Allan .
“For those of us in midfield, he always asks for us to keep it as simple as possible, two touches of the ball, always look to play forward… and to always have a compact line so we’re prepared for all types of games.”

Benitez’s sides are historically strong defensively, but they can attack with pace and directness. The Spanish boss is a hands-on manager that the squad should like quickly.
He’s had a great reputation with his squads in the past, but he’ll now be looking to squeeze the best out of a group that has a lot of potential on paper.
Carlo Ancelotti couldn’t get them over the line last season for European football, which needs to be an aim.
