Allan Saint-Maximin lauds Arsenal loanee Joe Willock; makes Spurs comparison
Allan Saint-Maximin that Newcastle need to sign more players like Arsenal loanee Joe Willock – before going on to compare their partnership with a certain Spurs pairing.
Willock has proved to be an outstanding signing for Newcastle. Despite only arriving in the winter window, the Gunners loanee is the Magpies’ second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League.
His six strikes have proved pivotal in guiding Steve Bruce’s men to safety. But they have also received a huge boost with Saint-Maximin returning to the fold after an injury in March.
The pair have formed a superb partnership. But interestingly, Saint-Maximin has compared their pairing with the most lethal combination in the league this season – which just happens to come from Arsenal’s biggest rivals.
“We have to buy more players like Joe Willock, he can be really great for the team and for myself, I am 24 years old, and have to think about the national team, about winning trophies, and hope the club can give me that,” .
“My relationship is really good with Joe inside and outside the pitch, and you can see how that helps a team when you have players like that – like Harry Kane and Heung-min Son at Tottenham.”

Putting rivalry aside for one moment, it is quite something to make that comparison.
Kane setting up Son is the most prolific pairing in the top flight – and Son providing the assist for Kane is the second-most prolific.
Saint-Maximin’s comments surely suggest that he would love to see Willock stay at St James’ Park beyond this season.
It will be interesting to see what decision Arsenal make on Willock’s future. In truth, it would be little surprise if he continued to divide opinion.
Despite his six goals, it does not appear that all Arsenal fans believe that his future lies at the Emirates. However, there are plenty who hope that he has proved enough of a point to force his way into Mikel Arteta’s plans.
