The report claimed that the stumbling block in the deal had appeared to be an agreement on the fee, with Forest holding out for a higher figure, but this appears to have been overcome.

, meanwhile, claimed earlier this week that personal terms between Villa and Cash’s representatives have already been finalised.

Forest academy manager Brazil took to social media on Wednesday to express a “mixture of emotions” at the club in wake of Cash’s seemingly imminent departure:

Cash was one of Forest’s standout performers last season as they came within a whisker of making the Championship playoffs.

The Reds academy graduate has made for the City Ground side, claiming 13 goals and 15 assists, since making his debut in 2016.

Last season, Cash was switched from midfield to full-back by Sabri Lamouchi, a decision which has reaped dividends.

Should the 23-year-old join Villa, he would provide competition for Frederic Guilbert and Ahmed Elmohamady in Dean Smith’s squad.
