‘All day long’: Sam Allardyce says Man United should’ve re-signed 31-year-old attacker last summer
Manchester United have made a few serious transfer blunders over the years.
We’re not talking about flop signings such as Memphis Depay or Angel Di Maria, we’re talking about the stars of the future that United let𝐆 go too soon.
United do have a strange tendency to let talented players leave before they become stars. Players like Diego Forlan, Gerard Pique and, ironically, Paul Pogba are famous examples over the years, and perhaps the most prominent modern name who fits into that category is Wilfried Zaha.
The Ivorian was Alex Ferguson’s final signing at United, but within♛ a couple 🐈of years of the manager’s retirement, he’d moved on.
Zaha has since re-established himself as a star at Crystal Palace, while he came back to haunt United for🍨 Galatasaray in the Champions League this 💧season.
Speaking on the , Sam Allardyce has been discussing the winger, and he says that he would’ve re-signed Zaha on a free traಌnsfer last summer if he was at Old Trafford.

United should’ve re-signed Zaha
Allardyce shared h🔯is verdict on the former Crystal Palace man.
𝄹“I’d have 𝄹gone and got him. I’ve worked with him obviously, but I would’ve taken him on a free all day long,” Allardyce said.
“I thi🔴nk he want🐼ed Champions League football,” The host said.
“Well I would’ve given him Champions🥃 League football at Man United, he had Fergie didn’t he, but he was too young then he was.”
Not the worst idea
Of course, this is very much playing🃏 into the Sam Allardyce꧑ trope of signing reliable, proven Premier League players, but it has to be said that Zaha wouldn’t have been a bad signing for United last summer.
Think about❀ it, Jado𝔍n Sancho is way out of the picture, Antony isn’t even close to showing any sort of form and Marcus Rashford has been way off the boil so far this season.
Meanwhile, Zaha has been doing the business in Turkey and in the Champions League, and the scary thing is that he could genuinely be United’s best attacker if he was at Old Tr🌱afford right now.
United didn’t sign Zওaha, but perhaps they should have.
