Alisson Becker now shares what he has noticed about Federico Chiesa after £10m move to Liverpool

Alisson Becker has now shared his thoughts on Liverpool new boy Federico Chiesa.

The Italy international completed a shock move to Liverpool from Juventus during the summer transfer window – with many under the impression that the fee is a bargain, given the fact he cost £54m back in 2020.

In fact, Liverpool effectively signed Chiesa for nothing – after receiving roughly £10m from Dominic Solanke’s £65m move to Tottenham.

Now, Alisson Becker has shared what he thinks of Federico Chiesa after the Italian joined him on Merseyside…

What Alisson Becker said about Federico Chiesa

The Brazil international told the media ahead of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League clash against AC Milan that his new teammate seems utterly delighted to be at Anfield.

Gianluca Di Marzio Alisson as saying: “Chiesa immediately demonstrated his quality, but what struck me was the smile on his face. He arrived with the desire to do many things for the team and the gratitude of playing for Liverpool – as if life had given him another opportunity, a magnificent opportunity to do what he loves in a club like this.”

It has been a rough couple of seasons for the 26-year-old.

After starring for Italy at UEFA Euro 2020 – helping his country win the entire tournament – Chiesa unfortunately suffered serious damage to his anterior cruciate ligament, severely stunting his progress.

This kind of injury can often ruin careers, so it is no surprise that the Liverpool No.14 is overjoyed to have actually found a club better than Juventus, when it seemed as if he might need to take a step down to rebuild himself.

Liverpool are winning either way

Of course, Chiesa has a lot to prove at Anfield after falling by the wayside at Juventus.

However – while Liverpool obviously hope the man from Genoa performs well – it is arguably a win for the Reds either way, given the fact they are highly unlikely to make a loss on the forward having signed him for only £10m.

On the contrary, if he does succeed, his value should quickly return to around the £50m mark given his age and pedigree in the game, so this is one of those rare, risk free gambles you hardly see in the transfer market – fair play to Richard Hughes for negotiating the deal.
