Alfie Whiteman posts on Instagram after signing new Tottenham deal
Alfie Whiteman has posted on Instagram after the young Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper signed a new contract to remain at Spurs until the summer of 2022 – as he continues to warm the Tottenham bench.
Whiteman, 21, is probably Tottenham’s fourth-choice goalkeeper behind club captain Hugo Lloris, Argentina cap Paulo Gazzaniga and veteran stopper Michel Vorm. But with Lloris and Vorm injured, he is becoming a regular on the Spurs bench.
Indeed, the Tottenham-born goalkeeper has been named on the bench five times this season in all competitions. Four of those have come under Jose Mourinho, against Olympiacos, Bournemouth, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Given that Whiteman has been promoted to the first team, he has only made five appearances for the Under-23 side this term. With Vorm and Lloris set to return in the new year, he could be demoted back to the second string again.
Whiteman was in the final months of his previous deal, set to expire at the end of the season but his new contract eases the pressure on him. He now has the freedom to go on loan, do all he can to impress, and return to Tottenham a better player.
The England Under-19 international posted on Instagram after putting pen to paper on a new contract for the next two and a half seasons, underlining his delight to have done so by thanking those who have helped him reach where he is now.
