Alexander Isak now missing from Newcastle training ground as Liverpool ready record bid
TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Alexander Isak is now missing from the Newcastle training ground as Liverpool prepare a record bid.
The Sweden international pulled out of Newcastle’s pre-season tour in Asia last week, and withdrew from training altogether due to a minor thigh problem.
However, the Newcastle No.14 is understood to have disappeared since then, with sources informing TBR Football that the man born in Solna has told Eddie Howe he is working on his own training programme at home away from Darsley Park.
TBR Football understand Isak recently stunned Newcastle by demanding £300,000-a-week to sign a new contract.
The situation has now reached a point where the striker has gone absent without leave.
Here is all the latest information on this developing Alexander Isak saga.
Exclusive: Liverpool preparing bid as Alexander Isak goes AWOL
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has been informed Liverpool are preparing a record offer for the Swede as he begins to force the issue at Newcastle.
Richard Hughes – Director of Football at Anfield – is understood to be close with Howe, and is now working on a package to bring the scorer of 23 Premier League goals last season to Liverpool.
TBR Football understand Liverpool have informed Newcastle they are willing to pay more than £120m to sign Isak, which would be a new British transfer record – surpassing the £116m the Reds spent on Florian Wirtz earlier this summer.
Liverpool believe their offer for the 25-year-old will be deemed acceptable in the eyes of Newcastle.
Newcastle considering Benjamin Sesko
Newcastle did want to sign Hugo Ekitike as a replacement for Isak, before Liverpool signed the Frenchman too in a £69m move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Now, TBR Football have been told Newcastle are looking at Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.
We understand the Slovenia international is open to joining the Magpies and is eager to hear more.
However, Manchester United are also looking at Sesko and have started talks – along with Ollie Watkins – so this is far from a simple deal for Newcastle to complete.
