Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sends message to Liverpool star after disappointment

Rhian Brewster has posted on Instagram after failing to help Swansea City achieve success in the Championship play-offs and subsequently seeing his loan from Liverpool finish – and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has responded.

Brewster, 20, clocked up his first three senior appearances for Liverpool during the first half of the season but decided to leave Anfield in January on loan. He joined Swansea, who were looking to finish in the play-offs.

Brewster’s 10 goals in 20 Championship appearances helped them achieve that in dramatic fashion on the final day of the campaign. Swansea faced a Brentford side that were down, after coming so close to automatic promotion.

Despite a 1-0 first-leg win over Brentford, the Bees rallied to win 3-1 in the second leg at Griffin Park despite a glorious chip from Brewster to net his 11th goals in 22 outings. He posted a message on Instagram, after the defeat.

Brewster now returns to Liverpool having made a real impression with his one-in-two form with the Welsh side. It is expected he could go on loan a second time, but perhaps to a Premier League side, in the coming weeks.

Oxlade-Chamberlain responded to Brewster’s Instagram message, urging the young Reds attacker to keep his “head up” after shining in a Swansea shirt – but failing to help the Welsh side gain promotion.
