Alex Mowatt and Barry Douglas respond to Leeds star on Instagram after news
Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips received the news on Tuesday that he’s part of the England squad for Euro 2020, which prompted a wave of well done messages on his Instagram from current and past teammates.
Phillips is part of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for the major international tournament.
Aged 25, he’s made the step up to the Premier League later than most. But the midfielder has just completed an excellent debut season in the top flight by helping Leeds finish 9th.
He’s a deep-lying midfield playmaker that is the talisman for his club at Elland Road.
The Leeds-born star will be competing in the England squad with the likes of Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Jordan Henderson for a starting position.
Phillips celebrated his call-up with an post.
Ex-Leeds players Alex Mowatt and Barry Douglas were among those to respond.

Leeds star Kalvin Phillips may have key England role this summer
If you consider Henderson’s lack of match fitness, surely Phillips may be in line to start for England at some stage in Euro 2020.
The Leeds ace has seven England caps already and clearly has Southgate’s trust. He can be a vital Three Lions star this summer if he just replicates what he does in a Leeds shirt.
Surprisingly, Southgate only has five midfielders listed in his 26-man England squad. It shows he’s got immense faith in those five individuals to get them through the tournament.
A Phillips-Rice combination is something that has been tried out in an England XI before. There are some that are concerned Southgate will set the team up too defensively. However, it could work if four attackers in front are allowed to roam.
