Alex Ferguson shares why he rejected the chance to manage Tottenham before Man Utd
Tottenham Hotspur have had some brilliant managers in their history, even if they didn’t work out at Spurs.
The likes of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho are two of the best managers in modern history, despite their failures in nor🐻th London, while Mauricio Pochettino made ꦫa real name for himself at Spurs.
Tottenham haven’t always had the best of luck📖 when it comes to managerial appointments, but that could’ve been very different had things gone another way back in the 1980s.
Indeed, speaking to TNT Sports, Alex Ferguson has now admitted that he rejected the chance to join Tottenham when he was the manager of Aberdeen as he was told to only join Manchester United.

Alex Ferguson rejected Tottenham
Fergie named Tottenham among the 🌊clubs he rejected as he looked to leave Abe༒rdeen.
The legendary manager says 💦that he alsဣo knocked back Arsenal and Wolves before ultimately ending up at Manchester United.
“I turned down Arsenal, I turned down W꧑olverhampton Wanderers and I turned down Tottenham,” Ferguson stat♎ed.
“I said that maybe it was time for me to leave, blah, blah, blah, and he [Aberdeen Chairman Dick Donald] said to me ‘don’t talk like that.’ You shoulꦜd go only to one club – Manchester United.
Ferguson could’ve transformed Tottenham
After winning 13 league titles and two Champions Leagues with Manchester United, it’s fair to say that Alex Ferguson is🐎 one of the greatest managers ever.
Fergie is a United legend, but it’s hard not to pon🧸der what could’ve been had he joined Tottenham at that time.
In the late 1980s, Spurs were just becoming a bit of a force with a team that inc🌞luded the likes of Glenn Hoddle, Chris Waddle and Gary Lineker, three of the best players in the world at that time.
If Fergie had coached these players in north London, perhaps he could’ve turned Tottenham int🐷o the force that he eventually made Manchester United into.
Gary Neville recently stated that Ferguson was a better manager than Jurgen Klop🍬p, and while it’s impossible to say, it’s fair to assume that he would’ve had a serious impact at Tottenham if he’d headed to no🥂rth London instead of Manchester.
