Aleksandar Mitrovic gives verdict on reported Newcastle target’s current situation

Newcastle United are reportedly leading the race to sign Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic along with West Ham United, and Aleksandar Mitrovic has recently commented on his Serbia teammate’s poor form this season.

that 22-year-old Jovic – who has scored just two goals in 24 appearances for the Spanish giants since his move from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt – is attracting interest from Newcastle and West Ham.

The website also claims that despite Newcastle and West Ham leading the way, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United are also keen on the Serbia international. He cost Real Madrid a whopping £57million ().

Mitrovic was asked about his national teammate’s recent form and is confident that form is temporary, class is permanent – claiming Jovic only needs a bit of regular game time and the goals will follow.

“Luka is in a bit of a crisis,” Mitrovic told Butasport, . “When you are a striker, the most important thing is that you’re on the pitch. That’s my view. “I think he just needs time to be on the pitch more.

“I’m convinced with two or three 90-minute games the goals will come. Goals are like ketchup. When you shake it, it won’t come out. When it comes, more comes out than expected. I have told him he has everything required to be a great attacker.”

At Newcastle, Jovic would certainly get such game time. Joelinton has struggled since his move to St. James’ Park, scoring just one Premier League goal all season. Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll and Yoshinori Muto are expected to leave.

Certainly, Newcastle need a striker and Jovic needs a club that can hand him regular, first-choice game time. So, Jovic and Newcastle could be a match made in heaven – especially given Mitrovic’s comments.
