Alasdair Gold shares if Tottenham will actually sign Adrien Rabiot after reports of agent talks
Tottenham had a big summer this time around but with the free-agent window still open ahead of the final squad being registered, there’s talk of more potential deals.
Manager Ange Postecoglou very much got his wish in the summer as he managed to move some players on and brought in a number of fresh faces.
The likes of Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert cost big money, while Lucas Bergvall and Yang-Min Hyeok are very much seen as bargain buys.

However, with the Premier League squad registration window still open, there’s also a chance for freebies to be brought in.
Indeed, Tottenham are being linked with French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot is looking for a club in England or Europe instead of Saudi Arabia but according to Alasdair Gold, talk of a move to Tottenham could be a touch premature.

Tottenham unlikely to sign Adrien Rabiot
Speaking for about the potential for Tottenham to sign Rabiot in the coming weeks, Gold has admitted he’d be surprised based on what Postecoglou has said in the past.
“Unless there are any injuries, on international duty or in training, in the next week before the Premier League squad registration needs to be made, I’d be surprised if there was a free agent signing,” Gold said.
“Mainly because Postecoglou is always talking about not signing short-term, stop-gap players for the sake of having another body. He only wants players that fit his very specific system and if he’d wanted any of the available free agents then they’d have gone for them beforehand.
“He made a big point when I asked about centre-backs of saying that they didn’t just sign anybody because there was nobody available that he wanted.
“Like I say, I think it would take an injury and big squad cover issues to make them move for anyone with the likes of Rabiot, Martial and Depay out there.”

Rabiot has long been linked with a move to England and both Newcastle and Manchester United were suggested as destinations late in the window.
However, it does look like he has a lack of takers and as Gold says here, Postecoglou is likely to take a dim view of signing him.
Rabiot, then, might wish he’d not ruled that Saudi move out just yet.
