Alasdair Gold shares demand Ange Postecoglou has made behind the scenes at Tottenham different to Fabio Paratici

Tottenham Hotspur find themselves preparing for one of the biggest games of their season as their bitter rivals are set to come to town.

Ange Postecoglou can finally welcome his international stars back to the English capital after a week or so away, with preparations for Arsenal’s visit to step up.

Tottenham have Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke’s injury situations to worry about ahead of the North London derby, which is something that Postecoglou will no doubt touch on in his press conference.

The Lilywhites haven’t really caught much of a glimpse of Solanke since joining from Bournemouth in the summer, as he’s only played one game in the Premier League so far.

But, the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert have all looked impressive for Tottenham.

Interestingly, Alasdair Gold has shared a demand that Ange Postecoglou has been making behind the scenes to do with transfers…

Ange Postecoglou makes Tottenham demand behind the scenes different to Fabio Paratici’s approach

Fabio Paratici is a big fan of Radu Dragusin, but that move doesn’t appear to have been worth it for Spurs.

Of course, the Italian was behind the signings of Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero, Pape Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, and several others, so he does know what he’s doing.

But, from what Alasdair Gold has been saying on the Gold & Guest podcast, it appears as if Ange’s approach is very different to Paratici’s.

“Postecoglou is very keen for the club to modernise and go down that route (data-driven).

“He was one that certainly I think maybe Fabio Paratici is one that would just deal with his feelings about players, his beliefs about players, ones that he’d seen with his own eyes which you know is still a very effective way of doing things.

“But I think when Postecoglou came in, it was very much okay, so where’s the data on this? Where’s this? Where’s that? I want to see exactly why this player you are suggesting fits my system.”

What is Tottenham’s transfer policy?

It’s clear from the signings that Spurs have made since Ange Postecoglou took over that the Australian likes to bring in younger players and develop them.

Ange Postecoglou has signed 16 players since being appointed as Spurs boss, and the oldest player to join out of those 16 players is Timo Werner at 27.

His strategy appears to be paying off as Wilson Odobert has already caught the eye of Micah Richards, while Archie Gray has been tipped to go on and achieve big things by Harry Redknapp after his start.

It’s a policy that will certainly please Daniel Levy, as he could potentially sell these promising players at inflated prices later on in their careers.
