Alasdair Gold says Tottenham have a young player who’s way better than Spurs expected

Tottenham Hotspur’s young players have been brilliant during pre-season as Spurs look to push on under Ange Postecoglou.

Mikey Moore has earned huge praise this summer, while Will Lankshear has also been tipped for big things.

Of course, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have been the centre of a lot of attention after joining Tottenham this summer.

Bergvall has been incredibly impressive in pre-season and according to Alasdair Gold speaking on his YouTube channel, the Swedish midfielder is actually ahead of where Spurs expected him to be at this point.

Lucas Bergvall is exceeding Tottenham’s expectations

Gold shared his verdict on the teenager.

“Lucas Bergvall has a bit of strength about him. I just feel like he’s further along in the process than we or Spurs expected,” Gold said.

“I just have this feeling that at some point this season, maybe even in the first half of the season, he will do something magical and Postecoglou will know he’s ready. I just have this feeling it’s coming.”

Bergvall expectations hard to judge

Bergvall is exceeding all expectations so far at Tottenham, but the reality is that it’s tough to know where to place the midfielder in terms of his ability.

He’s only ever played in Scandinavia, and with all due respect, it’s hard to get a proper grasp of a player’s ability if he’s not playing at the top level.

Much like Dele Alli all those years ago, Tottenham have signed a young player from a smaller league, and he’s taken to life at the club like a duck to water.

Whether or not Bergvall can have that Alli-esque impact this season remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised if he plays a serious part for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season.

Tottenham might just have another young superstar on their hands here, and there’s a lot of reason to be excited about Bergvall’s future at Spurs.
