Alasdair Gold says Tottenham fans unfair to label Sissoko and Aurier as bad eggs
Respected Tottenham journalist, Alasdair Gold, has said that the opinion that Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier were ‘trouble causers’ is wide of the mark.
Sissoko moved to Watford in the summer, while Aurier is currently without a club after leaving Spurs altogether. The pair were largely criticised at times last season, with Aurier coming in for particularly bad feedback from fans at times.
However, the outside impression that Aurier and Sissoko were bad trainers or trouble causers has been debunked by Gold. Speaking in his this afternoon, Gold explained why he thinks that theory is unfair.
“I don’t think that’s fair to be honest. Both players were really good trainers and there was no indication that they were ‘bad eggs’. The problem for Spurs has mostly been just stale players, who have been there too long and needed a change as did the club itself,” Gold replied to a comment about Sissoko and Aurier.
Both players had played key roles for Spurs during their time with the club.
Sissoko, of course, got his move to the PL anyway. For Aurier, there was a feeling his lack of discipline at the time on the field painted a picture that was worse than reality.
