Alasdair Gold says ‘a fair few people’ at Tottenham have told him £42m player isn’t signing
Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a move to Tottenham as of late.
The Manchester City midfielder needs a move this month, and Spurs are said to be among the interested parties looking to sign the England international.
However, as with many transfer rumours at this time of year, it would appear that this Phillips link is baseless.
Indeed, speaking on his , Alasdair Gold has been discussing these links to Phillips and he says that a fair few sources at Tottenham have told him this deal is a non-starter.

Phillips deal a non-starter
Gold shared what he’s been told about the midfielder.
“Kalvin Phillips, from what I understand that’s not a move Spurs are looking to make at this moment in time. Phillips is very much a number six as well which is why I don’t understand the links to him. They have so many players who can play the number six role. If I’m Phillips why would I want to leave the bench at Man City for the bench at Spurs? That’s of no benefit to him. Yeah, from what I understand, speaking to a fair few people within Spurs, that’s not a player they’re looking at,” Gold said.
Wouldn’t make sense
It’s not all that surprising to hear that Spurs aren’t in for Phillips.
Tottenham have plenty of midfield options as things stand, and while they could probably do with a new number eight, a holding player isn’t at the top of their agenda this month.
Phillips needs to go to a club where he’s guaranteed regular minutes, and, unfortunately, if he joins Tottenham he won’t be afforded that luxury due to the massive competition in the midfield at the moment.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for any movement on this front, because it sounds as though Phillips won’t be headed to north London anytime soon.
