Alasdair Gold isn’t certain whether £25m player will be at Tottenham next season

Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has now been discussing the future of a player he thinks may leave the club next season.

It will surely be a busy summer for Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, who will want to see a considerable amount of progress made.

It is quite remarkable to think how far Tottenham’s project has come in this new era, with just two windows to work with.

But in order for Postecoglou to propel this Spurs team into one that competes for silverware, heavy investment will be needed.

It does seem as if all the foundations are in place in North London, and with Tottenham often thought to be in a strong financial position there’s definitely cause for optimism.

That being said, Alasdair Gold has now been discussing the future of Ryan Sessegnon on the ‘’ podcast.

Sessegnon, who recently underwent successful surgery on his hamstring, will miss the majority of what remains this season.

And given his contract situation, Gold wasn’t sure if Sessegnon would still be a Tottenham player next season.

Alasdair Gold thinks Tottenham player Ryan Sessegnon could leave on loan next season

Speaking on the podcast, the journalist explained that a loan move may be difficult next year, but also thought it was the best solution.

Gold said: “Whether it is at Tottenham in the future or not, we’ll see, we don’t know, obviously there’s his contract situation that’s currently up in 2025.

“We don’t know if there’s an option there or not to prolong that for another year, or extend that by another year.

“I think in an ideal world a loan next season probably would be great for him, but like we say, if his contract ends in 2025 you can’t really do that unless there’s some kind of option to buy.

“Which again for a club, when he’s coming back from a year of not playing, that’s a difficult kind of chance to take for them.”

Of course, it is a real shame that Sessegnon has missed so much football over the last few years.

At the time, the that brought the English youth international to Spurs looked as if it could prove to be bargain.

However, injuries have been cruel to Sessegnon over the years.

But at 23-years-old, there’s still plenty of reason to believe the defender can enjoy a successful career, even if Gold isn’t sure that he’ll be a Tottenham player next season.

All that being said, it seems as if Tottenham will make a couple of changes when Crystal Palace visit this weekend.
