Alasdair Gold confirms £13m Tottenham player is about to leave Ange Postecoglou’s side on loan
After their mixed success in the loan market last season, Tottenham Hotspur have now agreed to send one of Ange Posteocoglou’s forwards out on loan.
Last term, Postecoglou sent a number of first-teamers out on loan to either better their value for a future sale or to just develop their game, ready for more first team chances.
Initially, it looked as if Djed Spence, who left Tottenham for two different loans over the season, was one of those Spurs were attempting to attract a buyer for.
Spence only lasted six-months at Leeds United before switching Elland Road for the Serie A with Genoa – effectively trading places with Radu Dragusin.
Interestingly, Tottenham have given Spence a second-chance in pre-season, and he could be useful back-up at both right-back and left-back should the 23-year-old stay this season.
And whilst Spence left for his loan with an uncertain future, the same couldn’t really be said for Alejo Veliz, who only arrived in north London last summer.
20-year-old Veliz didn’t quite seem ready for Premier League football, meaning minutes out on loan represented a good opportunity to improve.
Tottenham on verge of loaning Alejo Veliz to newly-promoted La Liga side
That being said, Veliz’s loan spell with Sevilla didn’t quite work out as expected, with the centre-forward only making six appearances in La Liga, playing 31 minutes in total.
However, that experience doesn’t seem to have deterred Spurs from trying again in Spain.

And according to reliable Tottenham journalist , Veliz has now agreed to head to Espanyol on loan.
The will get another crack at La Liga, hoping that he will be afforded better chances at the newly-promoted side.
In his update, Gold did also mention that there’s unlikely to be an option to buy included in the loan at this stage.
He shared: “Alejo Veliz heading to Espanyol on loan. Doesn’t look like an option to buy at this stage.”
The move looks very sensible for both Veliz and Tottenham, with both parties surely hoping that this time away can ready the Argentinian for first-team football in N17.
Tottenham are currently stepping up efforts to sign Dominic Solanke, but Veliz could save them a lot of money in the future were he able to regularly contribute goals.
