Alan Smith lists three Arsenal players he’s unconvinced by

Alan Smith has questioned three of Arsenal’s most senior players, following the club’s rocky start to 2020/21.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently languishing in 12th place having won four and lost four of their opening eight games.

There have been some glimpses of quality, but the team have ultimately struggled to be consistent.

One thing Arsenal have had some difficulty with is the scoring of goals, and Gunners legend Smith has questioned a few of the team’s attackers as a result.

: “Willian’s come in and not quite reached the levels he had at Chelsea, Pepe (25) is hot and cold, for £70-odd million, that’s been a disappointing signing so far, Alexandre Lacazette hasn’t kicked on from his first season as well.”

Between those three players, just four goals have been scored in the Premier League so far, with new signing Willian yet to get off the mark.

The Brazilian starred against Fulham in the first game, supplying two assists, but he has failed to kick on from there.

Arsenal trio must pull their socks up

Without doubt, the three players mentioned by Smith need to improve, as does captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

There is tremendous ability there, but none of them are pulling their weight so far in 2020/21.

If a top-four finish is top be achieved next year, good attacking output from these players will be absolutely vital, especially with the defence having made great strides.
