Alan Shearer thinks he knows exactly what’s going to happen with Alexander Isak this summer amid Arsenal links

Newcastle United have just qualified for the Champions League, but there are still some questions to be asked around St James’ Park.

Indeed, Newcastle need a big summer transfer window, and, they already have a few exciting targets in mind.

Bryan Mbeumo has been linked to Newcastle, while Marc Guehi remains on Eddie Howe’s radar.

However, perhaps the most important thing at Newcastle this summer is keeping hold of key players.

Liverpool wanted Anthony Gordon last summer, and they may still be keen, while Alexander Isak has been linked to Arsenal.

Speaking on The Rest is Football, Alan Shearer has been discussing Isak’s future at Newcastle, and he believes he knows what’s going to happen this summer.

Alan Shearer makes Alexander Isak prediction

Shearer says it’s vitally important that Newcastle keep hold of Isak, and he believes that is exactly what will happen.

Indeed, the pundit says he’s pretty certain that Isak will stay, claiming that he’s not worried at all that the striker will leave.

“Yeah you have to keep him (Isak), and I think they will, I’m pretty certain that because of their success this year and because they’re in the Champions League, there’s not a worry in my mind that he’s going anywhere, he’ll be a Newcastle player next season, he’s a very, very good player,” Shearer said.

How long is left on Alexander Isak’s contract?

Shearer believes Isak will be staying at Newcastle, and there’s a good chance he will.

Isak has been valued at £120m heading into this summer, and that may just be too expensive for any club.

Newcastle aren’t under any pressure to sell Isak contractually either. The striker still has three years to run on his deal, so we’re not at the point where a key decision needs to be made.

Newcastle want Isak to sign a new contract, and those conversations may well continue throughout the summer.

However, with three years left on his deal, now is not the time to sweat about Isak’s future as there’s still plenty of time to run on his current contract.
