Alan Shearer thinks Chelsea are already trying to sell £32m star after watching Club World Cup final

Despite the ambivalent attitude most had towards the Club World Cup this summer, Chelsea certainly made the most of the tournament.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side earned an astonishing amount in prize money over in the United States, and they also created a lot of excitement for the season ahead.

Joining Chelsea late in the competition, new Brazilian forward Joao Pedro was electric in his performances stateside — a striker who could have a very big season in blue.

And if there were ever any doubts, Cole Palmer once again proved that he is among the world’s elite.

But as , something might have to give — Maresca suddenly has a very big first team squad.

Alan Shearer says Chelsea will already be trying to sell Nicolas Jackson

To that end, Alan Shearer has now offered his thoughts on Nicolas Jackson’s predicament on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast.

Shearer was speaking alongside journalist Alex Aljoe and shared his belief that Chelsea might already be offering the striker around.

Chelsea paid to sign Jackson from Villarreal in 2023, a striker who has scored 30 goals in 81 games for the Blues.

But when responding to Aljoe, Shearer thought that time could be up for the 24-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

Aljoe initially said: “Yeah, I can’t see Nicolas Jackson staying at Chelsea.”

Shearer then replied: “No, I agree. I think I said, did I say that? Maybe last week, as soon as Pedro had came in and scored the two goals and Delap is already there, if there’s one person that’s going to be shifted out, then my guess is it would be him.

“And it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve already offered him to other football clubs and they’ve inquired about him.”

Arsenal have shown interest in Nicolas Jackson

Interestingly, journalist Duncan Castles previously claimed that Arsenal have shown interest in Jackson over in north London.

Speaking on his , Castles simply said: “Arsenal are interested and are weighing up the financial package for all their options.”

Therefore, following Arsenal’s move to sign Noni Madueke this summer, perhaps Chelsea will be able to offload another peripheral figure to their London rivals.

Chelsea also earned a big pay day when selling Kai Havertz to Arsenal, the two clubs’ good relationship is certainly proving beneficial for Maresca’s side at least.

Jackson can certainly still be an important player for Chelsea, but with Liam Delap and Pedro now on board, it might be tempting for the west Londoners to cash in.
