Spurs picked up their first win of the new Premier League season against the Toffees, and what a victory it was! It was a stunning performance from the hosts, who smashed four past Sean Dyche’s side.

Odobert didn’t get on the score sheet for Tottenham, but he caught many people’s eye.

Alan Shearer delivers verdict on Wilson Odobert after his Tottenham debut

Tottenham signed Odobert from Burnley in a shock deal earlier in August.

Nobody really saw this move coming, but Spurs entered talks with the Clarets and quickly sealed the deal for the talented 19-year-old attacker.

Many fans expected Odobert to be eased into life as a Tottenham player, but Postecoglou showed a lot of faith by handing him a start against Everton.

That was a bold move as Odobert got the nod ahead of more established stars like Richarlison and Timo Werner.

However, the Frenchman did not disappoint. He was really exciting and brought the Spurs fans to their feet every time he charged forward with the ball.

Son was blown away by Odobert after the win over Everton, while his manager, Postecoglou was pleased with his display too.

Now, Shearer has had his say.

Speaking on the , he said: “Very good, very good!

“I thought he was really lively, really energetic, he brought a different dimension I thought, give-go, had a really good understanding of who and what they are.

“Yeah, I was impressed with him.

What next for Odobert?

Odobert has definitely staked his claim to start for Tottenham.

The youngster’s pace, ability to dribble past players and create chances for his teammates make him an excellent option in attack for Postecoglou.

However, Spurs will soon have Dominic Solanke back in this side from his injury, and the fact that he is their biggest signing of the summer means he will play.

That will push Odobert back to the bench, but that’s not a bad thing at all. He is still only 19 and has shown he has what it takes to play when called upon.

We expect Odobert to get many more minutes in the coming months, even if most of them will likely be off the bench in the Premier League
