Alan Shearer says ‘ridiculously good’ attacker who retired at Arsenal was one of the Premier League’s best-ever players
Alan Shearer has lauded Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp as one of the Premier League’s best-ever players.
Arsenal have had some excellent attacking players over the years, with a few regarded among the best of the Premier League era.
Dennis Bergkamp is widely viewed as one of the best to ever grace ♔England’s top flight, having scooped three league titles and four FA Cups during his time in north London.
Alan Shearer certainly believes the Dutchman is amonꦜg the best we’ve seen over the past 30 years and has placed Bergkamp in his ‘top five’ in Premier League history.
Speaking on podcast, Shearer discussed Bergkamp’s br꧂illiance at Arsenal.
“He was just a brilliant player,” the Newcastle United legend sai👍d. “I don’t think you would get many people arguing how brilliant Dennis Bergkamp was, even opposing players, he was ridiculously good.
“I think we did the top 10 foreign players in Match of the Day top 10, but for me, he is one of the top five we have ever seen in the Premier League withဣout a doubt.”
“He is a wonderful 🍨footballer and he had an edge as well,” Gary Lineker added.
Bergkamp’s brilliant Arsenal record
The forward remains one of the most technically gifted players we’ve seen in E🔴ngland.
As well as picking up seven major trophies at Arsenal, Bergkamp also scooped the Player of 🌞the Season award in 1998.
The🅷 Dutch star was part of the ‘Invincibles’ side of 2003/04 and boasts an exceptional record for Arsenal.
Indeed, Bergkamp netted 1🔜20 goals and provided 103 assists in 422 appearances for the Gunners before hanging up his boots in 2006.
Paul Merson even recently claimed that the forward was better than Thierry Henry.
The debate over the Premier Leagu🌌e’s best-ever players is likely to rage on but Bergkamp is 🔴a player who always deserves a mention.
