Alan Shearer says one Manchester United player really doesn’t look happy now

Manchester United’s downward spiral seems to be almost never-ending at this point.

The Red Devils are wallowing in the bottom-half of the Premier League table, and Ruben Amorim’s start to life at Old Trafford hasn’t gone to plan.

Amorim could lose his third league game in a row on Sunday against Manchester City, and that’s something no Manchester United manager has done since Louis van Gaal.

Fingers have been pointed at almost every player at Old Trafford, and, this week, Marcus Rashford has been in the headlines amid rumours Manchester United are ready to sell the attacker.

United haven’t made a final decision on Rashford yet, but, as the old saying goes, there’s no smoke without fire.

Speaking to The Mirror, Alan Shearer has been discussing Rashford’s situation, and he says that he thinks the England international isn’t happy at Manchester United right now and that he can’t explain why his form has dipped so significantly.

Alan Shearer says Marcus Rashford doesn’t look happy

Shearer spoke about Rashford, claiming that the attacker really doesn’t look happy at Old Trafford.

The pundit said something isn’t right with Rashford, but he refused to speculate on what is going on.

Rashford’s professionalism has been questioned at times recently, while Benni McCarthy says reckons people around Rashford aren’t doing right by the striker.

“I don’t know him personally. I saw him three years ago scoring 30 goals a season, so it is in there, but we haven’t seen anywhere near that for a long time now,” Shearer said.

“I don’t know if there’s anything going on in his life or anything like that.

“There’s only two guys who can answer, his manager and him with his attitude and his performances and his belief. His performances haven’t been there for a while, he’s gone from there to down there in such a short space of time, so clearly something’s not right.

“I don’t know why he’s gone from there three years ago to where he is now, but I don’t see a happy player. It would be wrong for me to speculate, I don’t know what’s going on around him.”

Marcus Rashford’s decline in stats

Rashford’s decline over the past 18 months or so is there for all to see.

The goals have dried up for the forward, and his place in the team is at risk.

The numbers tell a damning story, and something clearly needs to change for Rashford.

Manchester United face Manchester City this weekend, and Paul Merson believes Rashford could be key to a United win.

However, given that Rashford has been on the bench for United’s last two league games and he was hooked in the Europa League on Thursday, there’s no saying that he will start this match.

Rashford has got a history of scoring decisive goals against City – he’s scored three times in one-goal wins against the Cityzens, but, given his recent form, Amorim would have every right to leave the attacker on the bench again for this game.

Whether or not Rashford can rediscover his best form remains to be seen, but, at the moment, things aren’t looking good for the 27-year-old.
