Alan Shearer says 26-year-old Arsenal player now has a new dimension to his game

Arsenal defender Ben White made it into Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week for his efforts against Brentford.

The Gunners ace is a “reliable” defender who is now starting to play a “huge part” in his team’s attack, says Shearer.

White has been going from strength to strength to Arsenal since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion back in 2021.

The Gunners signed him for £50million and he didn’t need too long to get up to speed at the Emirates Stadium.

To date, White has made 122 competitive appearances for Arsenal and has starred at both centre-back and at right-back.

In the Gunners’ last Premier League outing, White whipped in a superb cross for Declan Rice’s goal and followed it up with an arguably even better delivery for Kai Havertz’s late winner.

His efforts saw him named in Shearer’s XI alongside fellow Arsenal teammates Rice and Havertz.

“Not only is he such a reliable figure in defence, White is now starting to play a huge part in Arsenal’s attack, as he showed by setting up both of their goals against Brentford,” Shearer wrote on the Premier League .

Arsenal star Ben White reportedly set for long-term stay

When Arsenal signed White, some raised their eyebrows at how much they spent on him. However, he has more than justified his transfer fee.

Indeed, there have been reports doing the rounds claiming the 26-year-old has signed a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

This would be great news, as Arsenal would be retaining the services of yet another key player as the Mikel Arteta project continues to gather pace.
