Alan Shearer raves about Manchester City star who’s been patient
Alan Shearer has said he’s noticed Phil Foden developing hugely at the Etihad Stadium during the past year, which is why he named the Manchester City star in his Premier League team of the season.
Foden, 20, has been around the first-team group at Man City for a few years since stepping up from the academy. But most reckon this current 2020/21 campaign is the one he’s really announced himself to the world.
The left-footed attacker has 16 goals and 10 assists in 49 games across all competitions this year.
He’s played a major role in Pep Guardiola’s side winning both the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season. However, there is still the Champions League final against Chelsea on Saturday.
As well as that, England fans hope he has a key role to play this summer at Euro 2020.
Shearer named five players from title winners Man City in his league team of the season, including rising superstar Foden.
“How can I leave him out? He’s had to be patient and bide his time but Foden came of age this season, with his tremendous touch and technique contributing to nine goals and five assists,” .

Phil Foden developing into into a mega star
It’s difficult not to get carried away when a youngster bursts onto the scene, especially an English one, but there is something special about Foden.
His path into the Man City squad over several seasons shows he’s no flash in the pan, and he now looks like one of the brightest sparks on the pitch each game alongside some world-class teammates.
Guardiola’s man-management has been spectacular. With the Champions League final just days away, most people will have Foden included in their predicted XIs.
The creative playmaker needs to just keep level-headed as he takes everything in his stride.
