Alan Shearer names Harry Kane and Aston Villa trio in his Team of the Week

Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week has been announced on Twitter – and unsurprisingly, it was Aston Villa who had the most players included, with Harry Kane also getting the nod after a landmark goal for the Tottenham Hotspur striker.

Kane brought up his 150th Premier League goal on Sunday. And it proved to be an important one. His late header gave Spurs the three points in a hard-fought clash with West Bromwich Albion.

He now boasts a staggering tally of seven goals and eight assists in just eight league appearances this season.

Alongside Kane in Shearer’s front three are two of the men who helped Villa brush Arsenal aside on Sunday.

Ollie Watkins got two of their goals at the Emirates to wrap up the three points. But the game also saw Jack Grealish produce another stunning performance for the Villans.

Three for Villa

Douglas Luiz was the third Villa player named in Shearer’s side. It was, of course, his stunning pass that allowed Ross Barkley – who certainly can feel aggrieved to not be included – to set up the visitors’ second at the Emirates.

Dean Smith was also named as the Team of the Week’s manager for overseeing the win.

Meanwhile, Aaron Cresswell was included. His performance in West Ham’s win over Fulham was lauded by a number of fans. And Shearer was clearly just as impressed.

Southampton pair Jannik Vestergaard and Stuart Armstrong were also named. Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel and Wesley Fofana, Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea, and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes made up the XI.
