Alan Shearer makes top-four claim Liverpool fans won’t want to hear, discusses Ozan Kabak

that he does not believe Premier League champions Liverpool will finish in the top four this season, and commented on new January recruit Ozan Kabak after his debut against Leicester.

The Reds have slipped into sixth place in the Premier League table after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Leicester at the King Power on Saturday. They took the lead through Mo Salah, but Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes all scored.

Kabak, 20, made his debut for Liverpool in the match and was involved in Vardy’s opener, though blame has been attributed to goalkeeper Alisson for coming out of his box to take out the Turkish defender. It allowed veteran Vardy to score.

Liverpool are now in sixth place after both West Ham and Chelsea won on Monday night, overtaking the Reds. They are in sixth, two points off fourth-placed Chelsea – and Shearer thinks they will struggle to get back in. He also commented on Kabak.

, Shearer said: “City to win it. I think Chelsea, I do think Leicester – really impressed with them. Either Manchester United or Liverpool to miss out, if you push me, I think Liverpool could.

“I just think defensively, they look all over the place. They have put a youngster in, the new signing.  It’s a big ask for him to come in and shore up that defence.”

TBR’s view – Are Liverpool really going to miss out on top four?

Manchester City will win the Premier League this season, boasting the chance to go 10 clear on Wednesday night. Leicester look excellent and despite injuries, Brendan Rodgers’ side continue to go from strength to strength.

They are showing no signs of slowing down. Chelsea look solid under Thomas Tuchel but they are yet to come up against a proper test. As Shearer says, that leaves either Manchester United or Liverpool. The Reds look dodgy at the back.

United are stuttering, but they still have players in form. Can Liverpool say that? Not so much.
