Alan Shearer identifies where Arsenal and England talent Bukayo Saka needs to improve
Bukayo Saka has enjoyed a stellar 2020-21 campaign at Arsenal. Becoming more of a regular, Saka is not only one of Arsenal’s most-important players now – but he has also earned a place in England’s Euro 2020 side. But Alan Shearer has identified an area in which Saka can improve going forward.
Saka, 19, has had a hand in a whopping 17 goals during his 46 appearances in all competitions during the last season. The England ace already has 88 games under his belt and it will not be long after his 20th birthday in September, that he will reach a century of senior games for the Gunners.
A brilliant 12 months was topped off on Tuesday, when Gareth Southgate confirmed he would be in England’s 26-man Euro 2020 squad. Saka’s versatility, which allows him to play at left-back, left-wing, right-wing and even in the 10 role, is said to have tempted Southgate into his inclusion.
Also named emong the eight Premier League Under-23 players for the YPOTS award, Saka was applauded by Shearer. But the Premier League’s all-time goalscorer identified the one area in which Saka needs to improve. He thinks Saka has got to work on his end product.
“This lad has been played all across Arsenal’s team,” witter.”Excelling in midfield, left-back and on the wing. His end product needs to be worked on. But he makes up for that with crisp passing and fantastic defensive work.”
Can Arsenal match Saka’s ambition, following Shearer comments?
The danger is for Arsenal fans, that the Gunners continue to fall out of the Premier League’s top six. Saka is clearly happy just getting regular game time and feeling like one of the most-important players. But in two or three seasons, could he go?
Arsenal need to be back in Europe, at least, the Europa League in order to convince Saka to stay. Failure to do this, and some of the Premier League’s high-flying clubs might come in for the England ace. Ian Wright is also concerned about this.
