Alan Shearer heaps praise on West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell
Premier League legend Alan Shearer has included Aaron Cresswell in his latest Team of the Week.
The defender has enjoyed a good start to the 2020/21 season, coping well on the left of a back three.
David Moyes has previously been torn over who to field at left-back, but changing the system to use wing-backs has allowed for both players to start.
It’s a change that has had reasonable success, with Arthur Masuaku also really improving.

Cresswell covers the space Masuaku leaves behind when he goes marauding forwards, and fans have been impressed with the Englishman’s transition.
His performance against Fulham on Saturday was solid, and the star has been acknowledged by Match of the Day pundit Shearer, who said (): “He is having a great season. He provides superb deliveries for the forwards and is sound defensively.”
So far, £50,000-a-week star Cresswell () has played every single minute of West Ham’s Premier League campaign so far.
TBR’s View – System change may have saved Cresswell
In recent times, there have been a number of West Ham fans suggesting both Cresswell and Masuaku have had their chances at the club.

Neither player has ever really been able to truly nail down the left-back position.
Neither could build up momentum and it looked like one or both might have been moved on at one point.
But Moyes’ system change has managed to get the best out of both players, and the Scot deserves great credit for that.
