Alan Shearer says £15m Aston Villa star was easily ‘the best player on the pitch’ in 2-1 win vs Tottenham

Aston Villa continue to march on in their hunt for FA Cup glory as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Villa Park.

Unai Emery would have been proud of several of his players who heꦫlped the hosts take the ﷽visitors apart.

But none more so than Morgan Rogers, who continues to grow from strength to strength as he was excellent once again for Aston Villa against Tott🀅enham.

During the contest, Rogers first sprinkled his magic after setting up Jacob Ramsey’s opening goal with a finely-weighted through ball. But the Aston Villa midfielder was far from done from being a thorn in Tottenham’s side as he sc🎃ored the winning goal for them by tapping in a mishit clearance from Pedro Porro into the roof of the net.

Rogers, who is close friends with Brennan Johnson would have disappointed his close friend by singlehandedly dismantling Spurs on the day. Rogers even scored against Tottenham during Villa’s 4-1 defeat earlier this season and once again, he has manage to cause Ange Postecoglou distress.

Ahead of Aston Villa’s much-deserved victory against the Lilywhites, Rogers revealed𓆏 Unai Emery🐻 lets him express himself and that was evident fr♛om the very first minute on Sunday as he played with a sense of freedom.

The £15 million () man was carrying the ball at will, taking risks in the final third and expl🅘oiting all the space that Spurs were leaving in the middle of the park.

Rogers, who Pep Guardiola has lauded is really coming into his own this season — registering 11 goals🐠 and six assists in all co♎mpetitions as he added to his tally against Tottenham.

Rogers reacted to Aston Villa’s latest triumph 🍸against Tottenham by stating that the hosts could have scored more goals against Tottenham and won far more c💖omfortably.

The 22-year-old said via : “T♊he second goal was important, we played well but we hadn’t killed the game off. We probably could have scored a few more but overall we are happy with the performance and the win. I’m trying to improve, trying to get better, but the teꦫam are trying to create something and we’ll see where it takes us.”

While Rogers makes a fair point as Ramsey in particular fluffed his lines on several instances, he would have been happy with his own performance. The former Manch♐ester City attacker not only scored and assisted against Tottenham but also created four chances, completed two out o🦂f his three dribbles and played six passes into the final third.

Thomas Frank heaped praise on Rogers earlier this season and it is easy to see why as the youngster is🅺 a truly g💯ifted number 10.
