Alan Shearer completely agrees after Gary Lineker shares interesting theory about Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool contract situation
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been the best player in the world this season.
There were a lot of question marks over how the Egyptian would fare following Jurgen Klopp’s🧸 departure. Everybody knew his quality, but not many people expected him to have the kind of season he is having right now.
Salah is the biggest reason why Liverpool are leading the Premier League𝓰 title race, and he will be key if they are to go all the way.
꧑But, the big worry among Reds fans is that their star attacker has just a few months left on his contract, and there’s still a chance he could leave the club on a free transfer.
Gary Lineker shares theory over why Mohamed Salah will sign a new Liverpool contract
Liverpool💧 are mostly a very well-run club, but they have made a big mess with the contract situations of three of their best players.
Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold🌠 will all be out of contract at the end of this season, and that is not good management at all.
♏Liverpool are working hard to tie down all of them to new deals, and reports have claimed that they have made offers too.
So far, there has been no positive update, but Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker🐭 both feel that Salah will put pen to paper on a new deal. The latter has explained why.
🎉Here’s how their conversation went in the latest episode of the Rest is Football podcast.
Shearer: “He still hasn’t signed his contract.”
Lineker: “I’ve got a feeling he will.”
Shearer: “Me too.”
𒆙Lineker: “It’s just too quiet, otherwise, it’s too quiet. Otherwise, I think there’d be speculation. I don’t know, I’d be shocked if he doesn’t [sign], especially the way he jokes about things as well. You don’t do that if you’re going to leave. But who knows, I might be wrong, but I sense [he will].
🐬Shearer: “I’m with you. I think it’s, yeah, I’d be absolutely amazed if Liverpool don’t sign them up for another couple of years. Yeah, I’m with you.”
Mohamed Salah matches Lionel Messi’s incredible record
Salah has to be the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or.
🎃The 32-year-old is having an amazing season under Slot. He has delivered in every single competition, and his numbers this term are beyond incredible.
Games | Goals | Assists | Minutes per goal or assist | |
Mohamed Salah in 2024/25 | 37 | 29 | 20 | 63.87 |
♉One of the most incredible feats achieved by Salah this season is that he has scored and assisted in the same game on 10 occasions in the Premier League.
The last player to do that in Europe’s top-five leagues was the great Lionel Messi – he did it in the 2014/15 season at Barcelona.
