Alan Shearer claims Leeds forward Patrick Bamford has improved “enormously”

Alan Shearer has raved about the ability of Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford, who he feels has improved massively.

Bamford, who earns £35,000-a-week (), has proven this year he can be a leading frontman at a Premier League club.

The 27-year-old has struggled to crack top-flight football during his career and had to spend a lot of time in the Championship.

However, he’s been on fire this season in the top division.

The left-footed striker has 15 goals and eight assists in 35 league appearances across all competitions so far this campaign, proving he can mix it against the very best in the game.

Bamford has just missed out in Shearer’s England squad he would select for the European Championships, but he’s given massive credit to him.

England boss Gareth Southgate will officially announce later this month the Three Lions squad for this summer’s European Championships, and Leeds fans would love to see Bamford force his way into the plans.

“Bamford was back among the goals at the weekend, but he always runs so willingly for his team and has improved his game enormously,” .

“Any question about him doing it in the Premier League has been answered definitively. He’s been magnificent.”

TBR’s View:

If you consider Bamford has never received a senior international call-up, it seems unlikely he will feature this summer in England’s squad.

There can be no doubting though that his reputation has soared due to his performances this year.

He’s found a little more consistency and conviction around the penalty box, plus he’s integral to the style of manager Marcelo Bielsa with his relentless running for the full 90 minutes.
