Alan Shearer and Micah Richards noticed something very worrying about Tottenham’s Heung-min Son vs Aston Villa

Heung-min Son had yet another game to forget during Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

Recently, Ange Postecoglou revealed that Son needs a rest but even so, his performances have been worryingly poor for a while now, as was the case against Aston Villa where he mostly played as a striker.

However, Heung-min Son💦 was far from his lethal best, missing a tap-in during the first-half after Mikey Moore set him up with a perfectly-weighted cutback after Spurs carved Villa open on the break.

Apart from his miss, Son, whose form was slated by Troy Deeney💮 did not have much of an impact on proceedings at all.

Mathys Tel, who was tasked to play as a touchline winger in order to incorporate the South Korean as a centre-forward eventually scored Tottenham’s𓄧 one and only goal and that too from inside the box.

ౠAt 32 years of age, the former Bayer Leverkusen wideman is certainly not getting any younger.

Heung-min Son’s confidence questioned after Aston Villa vs Tottenham

However, 🔥Tottenham fans are questioning whether Son is captain material as he has not done much to help the Lilywhites get out of their rut. Son is a Premier League legend and Ange Postecoglou🍷 would have been hoping that the veteran stepped up during a time when youngsters like Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have been thrown into the fire.

Alan Shearer𓆉 initially claimed that Son is one of the experienced players who must up their game while reviewing Tottenham’s loss against Aston Villa.

♈Shearer said on The Rest Is Football podcast: “Some of these players, it’s the experienced ones who you’re asking a little bit more from, more from [Rodrigo] Bentancur, more from [Dejan] Kulusevski, more from Son, the captain, I mean, he missed a sitter in the first-half, Son.”

ꦍ“You want them to step up a little more because out of this last two or three, the youngsters have sort of shone more than anything and I think that’s a great credit to them.”

Micah Richards added that in his view, Son, who Jamie O’Hara has criticised𝓰 as well is lacking confidence, saying: “Like you said earlier on, Son is not really playing with the confidence we’ve seen of old. Him just taking so many touches.”

🌠Alan Shearer replied: “You see that in the second half when he passed it?”

🍸Richards said: “I was thinking to myself, he surely isn’t going to pass here? Son of old would have taken a touch and bent that into the corner!”

🥂Gary Lineker chimed in: “It’s mad what football does to your head, isn’t it?.”

🍌Alan Shearer agreed with Micah Richards’ view that Son looks under-confident on the pitch: “Son full of confidence would have moved that one touch out of his feet and would have shot, a little step-over, whatever, there’s no way when he is scoring goals and full of confidence that he’s even thinking of passing that.”

Mathys Tel proved vs Aston Villa why Ange Postecoglou should drop Heung-min Son

𝓡Tel, on the other hand showcased in his brief cameo up front that he is well capable of leading the line for Tottenham.

ꦉWith the £22 million () man bang out of form and also having played plenty of football, perhaps Ange Postecoglou should play Mikey Moore and the Frenchman, with Dejan Kulusevski playing off the right flank.
