Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker very impressed by £43m attacker who’s been linked with Arsenal move
Alongside Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer has now been sharing his praise for a player who’s been linked with a move to Arsenal at Euro 2024.
After a quiet June, it promises to be a busy period for Edu and his team this month and next, who will be determined to improve Arsenal’s squad.
By this time last year, Arsenal had announced a deal for Kai Havertz and were well on their way to securing Declan Rice too.
Of course, it may well still be the case that Arsenal are making serious progress behind the scenes, perhaps quietly looking to beat the rest of the market to certain deals.
But either way, Arsenal fans will be hoping for public progress soon.
And perhaps news emerging in Italy of Arsenal making a £40m bid for Riccardo Calafiori is now the beginning.
That being said, it was a different Euro 2024 player who Shearer was praising from Tuesday’s last-16 games.
Former Arsenal forward Donyell Malen demonstrates why he’s linked with return
Speaking on ‘’ podcast, both Shearer and Lineker were incredibly impressed by former Arsenal man Donyell Malen in the Netherlands’ 3-0 win over Romania.
Incidentally, £43m-rated Malen has been linked with a move back to Arsenal this summer, thought to have unfinished business in north London.

Malen himself has reportedly decided that he wants to leave Borussia Dortmund.
And judging by the two pundits’ comments, he may be very welcome to make a return during the Arteta era.
Shearer was succinct in his rating of Malen’s performance, simply saying: “Very good.”
Lineker then added: “I know he scored two goals but he was a threat throughout. Good substitution from Ronald Koeman.
“Even though they were winning he brought him on and that brave substitution [helped them].”
Will Amario Cozier-Duberry be the next Donyell Malen case for Arsenal?
Of course, Malen’s second goal really was a delight, a superb piece of movement and finish by the 25-year-old.
However, it must be noted that the forward, who decided to leave Arsenal at 18-years-old, was frustrating Dutch fans with his decision-making and passing prior to his goals.
But no one could accuse Malen of hiding during his 45 minutes on the pitch, an incredibly impactful performance.
On the subject of Arsenal forwards who reluctantly chose to leave the club to seek first team football, fans of the club may fear that Amario Cozier-Duberry’s career will follow a similar path to Malen’s.
The 19-year-old is now a free agent, determined to find an opportunity to play senior football.
And it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arsenal were soon linked with a move for Cozier-Duberry in four or five years’ time in a similar breath to these Malen links.
