Allan McGregor has followed in the footsteps of Steven Davis by putting pen to paper on a new one-year deal with Rangers to stay at Ibrox for another 12 months – and Charlie Adam and Steven Davis have reacted on Instagram.
McGregor, who turns 40 in January, will now remain with Rangers until the summer of 2022 after shining for the Gers. Clocking up 37 appearances in all competitions this season, he has conceded just 27 – keeping 20 clean sheets.
The 42-time Scotland international has a whopping 388 appearances to his name in Rangers colours, and is likely to surpass 400 next season. He easily remains the first name on the Rangers team sheet under Steven Gerrard.
Rangers confirmed that McGregor had put pen to paper on a new contract this summer, ending speculation over whether he would be kept on by the club – and following Davis by extending his contract until June 2022.
McGregor will be hoping that should the 21-22 season be his last at the club, that he can help Rangers qualify for the Champions League group stages – as well retaining the Scottish Premiership title to win a second successive league.
Two of McGregor’s former Rangers teammate in Hutton and Adam responded to the Gers’ post on Instagram – applauding both McGregor and the decision to hand him a new deal.
