Alan Curbishley wowed by West Ham summer signing who plays as if he’s been with club ‘a long while’
West Ham United defender Vladimir Coufal plays for the club as if he’d been with the Hammers for a long time, according to Alan Curbishley.
The East Londoners signed the Czech Republic international in October for just over £5million (), bringing their search for a new right-back to an end.
The 28-year-old defender penned a three-year deal at West Ham, with the option of a further two years, to join up with former Slavia Prague teammate Tomas Soucek.
Coufal has made seven Premier League appearances for the Hammers, playing the full 90 minutes in each game, and has been key in helping the side up to fifth in the table.
Curbishley spoke highly of David Moyes for his side’s good start to the season and named Coufal amongst the good signings the manager has made.
“He has made some good signings since he has been there,” the former West Ham boss told .
“Bowen, Soucek and the right-back Coufal has come in and looks as if he’s been there a long while.
“I think his (Moyes) contract is running out at the end of the season so its all good for David at the moment.”

Credit to Coufal for having hit the ground running at the London Stadium and to Moyes for having snapped him up, particularly for such a low fee.
Only Liverpool have won more points at home this season, and only Spurs and Chelsea have conceded fewer goals in the league – long may it continue.
