Alan Brazil says £15m Tottenham player should give up and become a pundit now

Tottenham Hotspur have been a baffling team this season.

Spurs have been so up and down it’s almost unbelievable. At the start of the season, they were flying at the top of the league, but they’ve been a bit all over the shop as of late, losing 3-0 to Fulham and drawing against West Ham recently.

There’s a lot to be said about Tottenham’s current inconsistency, and speaking on , Alan Brazil has taken aim at one player in particular.

Alan Brazil says Tottenham player isn’t good enough

The pundit spoke about Timo Werner’s recent performances for Spurs, claiming that he doesn’t think the German is good enough.

“I was baffled, take off one of the wide players, I’m sorry, Werner for me, he might as well sit here (in the studio), I don’t want to be nasty, but just come and sit here, he’s nowhere near good enough top class,” Brazil said.

Timo Werner hasn’t been that bad

We have to disagree with Brazil here.

Granted, Werner is a very frustrating player, but he’s not been that bad for Spurs, has he?

He’s grabbed some very important goals and assists for Tottenham, and the numbers show that he’s not been bad at all.

In seven starts for Tottenham, he has two goals and three assists – yes, those aren’t incredible numbers, but they’re not the sort of numbers you decry to this sort of level either.

Werner has plenty of areas he needs to improve on, that’s for sure, he’s an inconsistent finisher and quite a rash decision-maker, but, at the same time, he does have his good qualities, and he’s been effective at times since arriving in January.

At just , Tottenham should probably sign Werner permanently this summer as he’s available at such a modest fee.
