Ajax linked with signing Tottenham Hotspur star, amid reports Spurs want Ten Hag
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering Erik Ten Hag as he continues to shine in the Ajax dugout, but the Dutch club are now being linked with signing a Spurs player of their own – as say Ajax want defender Toby Alderweireld.
Having missed out on RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann who has been confirmed as taking over at Bayern Munich, The Telegraph have now claimed that Ajax boss Ten hag has emerged on the Spurs radar – along with plenty of other successors.
Alderweireld, 32, could go the other way, though. The Belgium defender joined Spurs in 2015 and has since clocked up 231 appearances for the London side – almost 50 more than he managed during his time at Ajax. He has two years left on his deal.
The latest report claims Ajax have joined PSV Eindhoven in the race to sign Alderweireld this summer, in a move that would see Alderwereld return to the side where it all began and perhaps surpass 200 appearances in red and white.

TBR’s view – Spurs need to sign a couple of defenders
A commanding centre-back in his prime is crucial. But the North London club also need one that has the pace to allow them to play possession-based football and peg back other teams. That speed will allow the defenders to stop a counter attack.
Alderweureld is past his prime and lacks pace. But keeping him helps Spurs, they could do with cover in the middle of the defence for any incoming centre-backs and Alderweireld knows what it means to be Spurs.
If Alderweireld is happy at Spurs as cover, then they should keep him amid interest from the table-topping Ajax.
