Leeds United forward Joel Piroe earned praise from BBC Sport pundit Aidy White during the Whites’ 4-0 hammering of Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The Leeds academy graduate believes the 24-year-old Elland Road summer signing is a really “underestimated” player.
Piroe delivered an outstanding display as the Whites ran riot at Elland Road against one of the Championship’s runaway duo.
The Dutchman played a big part in the opening goal, forcing a save from Vaclav Hladky that Pascal Struijk then headed home in the eighth minute.
Piroe then wrapped up the scoring in the 52nd minute, doing well to keep hold of a deflected ball on the counter to weave through the opposition defence and slam home.
Leeds United star Joel Piroe nets ‘tremendous’ goal
Not long before getting his goal, the Elland Road forward smashed an effort against the underside of the bar from a tight angle.
“Wow,” White said on (23/12/23, 13:40). “Lovely little stepover there, he shifts it, and then it would have been a lovely finish.
“That would have improved his stats – he is a bit of an underestimated player.”

When Piroe did score a few minutes later, White went on to : “Tremendous, tremendous goal.
“The patient defending that caused that. They waited for a sloppy pass, go on the counter and then he’s toe-poked it in!
“He sold the defender and put it in to the back of the net, fair play to the lad.”
Piroe made the most of the space that Ipswich afforded him as he found dangerous pockets time and time again, and covered plenty of distance getting up and down the pitch.
Leeds are next in action on Boxing Day, heading to Preston North End for a 12:30pm kickoff.
