‘Agreement reached…’ West Ham now close to signing £25m forward
West Ham have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Al-Ittihad forward Jota, with the Portuguese attacker set for a return to the United Kingdom.
The 24-year-old attacker left Celtic in the summer for a reported £25m in what was one of the more surprising deals of the winter involving Saudi Arabia, yet Jota’s time in the Middle East has not gone to plan.
The former Benfica wonderkid has struggled to adapt to his new club, with Jota playing just 11 games in all competitions for Al-Ittihad since joining from Celtic last year.
And accor, West Ham have now reached an agreement to sign Jota, with both clubs feeling that a deal can be finalised before the closure of the January window this week.
With the likes of Tottenham also reportedly interested in signing the winger, West Ham have potentially landed themselves a bargain in Jota, who was a superstar for Celtic in his two years in Glasgow.
Indeed, whilst the Portuguese attacker will regret his move to Al-Ittihad, a move to West Ham could remedy Jota’s decision, especially if David Moyes can get the best out of the former Celtic ace.
West Ham might have landed one of the best signings this January in Jota

Although Jota’s form has been underwhelming this season in Saudi Arabia, it would be safe to assume that the first half of this campaign has been a complete write-off for the 24-year-old.
The Portuguese attacker never settled at Al-Ittihad and seemingly wanted to leave just mere weeks after signing for the Middle Eastern giants, yet their loss could be West Ham’s gain.
As we know, Jota was once of Celtic’s best players in the two years the forward spent in Scotland, and under Moyes, the West Ham manager might have just landed on a gem in the market.
Although it could take some time for Jota to get up to speed in the Premier League, the Irons could be an ideal club for Jota, who he himself will want to impress at after six months of nothing in Saudi Arabia.
