‘Ageing’ Joao Moutinho assures Wolves fans he can play for five more years
Wolverhampton Wanderers maestro Joao Moutinho says he feels good enough to continue playing for five more years.
The Portuguese playmaker has been heavily involved for the Black Country club so far this season, making 13 appearances in all competitions.
At the age of 33, Moutinho could be forgiven for wanting a slightly reduced role this term, especially since Wolves are contending with the rigours of the Europa League.

Some supporters have voiced their concerns about Moutinho’s long-term prospects, but the player has provided some reassurance.
Speaking to Express & Star () he said: “The age, it’s just a number. I feel good. I can play, if you ask me now, five years easily. But we never know what comes for the next year, or the next week.
“What I keep trying in my mind is to work hard in the week to be better for the game.”

Moutinho’s comments are sure to delight Wolves fans, who really do worship the ground the former AS Monaco man walks on.

The 2018 signing – who is out of contract at the end of the season – is a hugely popular figure at Molineux for the quality he has brought to the side, but his advancing years are not ideal.
To hear that he is feeling so good though is bound to ease fans’ fears.
Of course, it does remain to be seen what kind of an effect a gruelling 2019/20 campaign will have on the 116-cap international’s body. It also remains to be seen whether he spend those next five years at Wolves.
