It is noted that the initial fee is worth £33 million for the Championship Player of the Year.

He has reportedly completed a medical in Argentina after the Canaries rejected Arsenal’s offer for the attacking midfielder.

It looks to be a huge statement of intent from Dean Smith’s side. Buendia scored 15 goals and contributed 16 assists in the Championship last year.

He has also previously impressed in the Premier League. He provided seven assists for Daniel Farke’s side in their most recent year in the top flight.

And Agbonlahor has suggested that the potential deal could be a game-changer for Villa.

The former Villans striker joined many in replying as Sky Sports posted the news on Instagram on Saturday.

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Aston Villa to contend for top six as the signing of Emi Buendia nears

Buendia signing a fantastic piece of business for Aston Villa

It looks to be an inspired move from the Villans. Smith’s side showed so much promise this past season.

Had Jack Grealish remained fit for the entire campaign, the Villans would have definitely been in contention for those European places.

Of course, it would be fantastic if Grealish can enjoy a little more luck this coming year.

But adding Buendia to potentially play alongside him could be a masterstroke.

Ollie Watkins must be salivating over the thought of playing in front of both Grealish and Buendia. He will certainly have no reason to complain about the amount of service he receives.

And if the move for Buendia is a sign of what is to come from Villa over the summer, there is arguably little reason why they cannot battle for the top six.
