After Van de Ven, Tottenham are looking at signing another centre-back who’s faster than Lucas Moura

Tottenham Hotspur need to have pace in their backline if they’re going to continue to do well under Ange Postecoglou.

As we’ve seen this season, the north London club plan on playing a very high line in every single game, and that only works if you have defenders who are quick enough to sweep up any balls in behind.

Luckily, Spurs do have one of the fastest in the business in the shape of Micky Van de Ven, and now, they could add another very fast centre-half in the coming months.

Indeed, according to , Tottenham are looking into the idea of signing AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.

This is very exciting for a number of reasons.

For starters, bringing in any defender from Milan should excite Spurs fans.

No club in the history of football has a finer lineage of producing top-class defenders than Milan. Simply put, if you’re buying from San Siro, you’re usually buying top-quality.

At the age of just 22, Thiaw also has a lot of room to grow and improve into a top-class player, while, as we mentioned earlier, pace is a strong suit of the young German.

He’s clocked in a top speed of in the Champions League for Milan. For context, that makes him faster than – a player who, as Tottenham fans all know, was no slouch.

Of course, getting this deal done may not be easy, but given how much business Spurs have done in Serie A in recent years, you’d have to fancy Tottenham to be able to find a way to jostle to the front of the queue if they do indeed intend to sign the 22-year-old.

This is an intriguing rumour to say the least, and it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
