After signing Milos Kerkez, Liverpool could now immediately make a move for £17m star, it is a ‘priority’

Liverpool have now announced Milos Kerkez as their third signing of the summer — a remarkable start to the transfer window for Richard Hughes and his team.

Milos Kerkez will join Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz at Anfield next season and Liverpool have already made significant upgrades to Arne Slot’s starting eleven.

Although, the Reds won’t stop there, and Liverpool are still targeting at least two more areas for improvement over the coming weeks and months.

TBR Football has long shared that Liverpool dream of signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, even if that’s a saga that might drag on deep into the summer.

But in terms of Liverpool’s immediate priorities after announcing Kerkez, finding a striker is right at the top of the list, along with a new centre-back.

Nathan Zeze is on the list of young defenders Liverpool are considering

That being said, Graeme Bailey has now provided an insight into what Liverpool can expect in the coming days and weeks — Hughes isn’t finished, far from it.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent confirmed that Liverpool are looking at a number of young centre-backs to come in right now, a list which includes Nantes’ Nathan Zeze, Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera and Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez, as well as a few others.

Asked what was next for Liverpool, Bailey replied: “I think it’s more likely to be a centre-back, Liverpool want that next up and coming central defender with Quansah going, and they were interested in one even before his move to Leverkusen.

“Liverpool still want that number nine as well, I think that’s the next two priorities for them now.

“They’ve got the full-backs in, midfield isn’t necessarily a need for them, especially with Wirtz who can play that 10 role as well — even if I think he’ll mainly play off the left for them.

“In terms of the defender, they want a young centre-back, we know they like Zeze, the young French defender at Nantes.

“Liverpool also like Mosquera at Valencia and the Ecuadorian defender Ordonez at Club Brugge.”

Liverpool might make another call about Chelsea’s Levi Colwill

In addition to those mentioned, Bailey also hypothesised about someone like Sporting CP’s Ousmane Dembele appearing on Liverpool’s radar.

And following Liverpool’s enquiry about Levi Colwill at Chelsea earlier this year, it’s certainly not impossible that the Reds would make a phone call again.

Bailey continued: “I think the addition will be in the mold of someone like [Ibrahima] Konate, when they bought him from RB Leipzig.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool came in for Diomande at Sporting CP. He’s someone who is really up and coming, a real prospect who can slot in as Liverpool’s number three.

“Obviously [Joe] Gomez is staying put, so it’s someone who can compete in there. [Jorrel] Hato is also a name they like.

“And you have to wonder, do Liverpool give Chelsea a call about Levi Colwill again? It wouldn’t surprise me, they’ve tried plenty of times before.”
